Deacon Victor DeFazio was ordained a Permanent Deacon on June 15th, 2013 by Bishop David Zubik at St. Paul Cathedral. Upon ordination Deacon Vic was assigned to St. Anne Parish.

Deacon Vic was born in Pittsburgh and baptized on October 14th, 1962 at Our Lady Help of Christians in the Larimer neighborhood of the City. When he was 5 years old his family moved to Penn Hills. Vic received his first Holy Communion, and Confirmation at St. Joseph Church in Verona.

 On June 4th, 1988 Vic and his wife Carol (she was also baptized on October 14th, 1962) were married at Resurrection Church in West Mifflin. Vic and Carol have lived in Pleasant Hills since 1990. They have two adult sons, Brian and Jonathan. Their family’s home parish is St. Elizabeth of Hungary where the boys attended school. Before ordination, Vic served on the St Elizabeth of Hungary Parish Council, and was a member of the Chancel Choir for 10 years. He and Carol were also very active in the St. Elizabeth Marriage Preparation Program, serving as table couple, presenters and coordinators of the program.

Vic is a graduate of Penn Hills High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from Penn State University in 1984. Since graduation from college he has worked as a Civil Engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania.

Vic is an avid reader of books about faith, history and sports.  He and Carol enjoy travelling throughout Pennsylvania and   various parts of the United States, especially the American southwest with its Catholic influence, to see National and State Parks. Lately they have enjoyed visiting their son Jonathan in Tucson, Arizona. One of their goals for retirement is to see every Pennsylvania State Park and every National Park.
