A huge thank you to the members of our parish’s Catholic Men’s Fellowship ministry
who have graciously donated the beautiful statue of Saint Michael the Archangel
that has been erected in the courtyard of Saint Anne church, with the assistance of
parishioner Alan Jackovic.
Almost three years ago, in response to the recommendation of both Pope Francis
and Bishop Zubik, we began to recite the prayer to Saint Michael at the conclusion of
all parish Masses. Pope Leo XIII who, during the celebration of Mass, had a terrifying
vision of demonic spirits intent on destroying the Church originally composed the
prayer in 1886.
Devotion to Saint Michael and frequent recitation of his prayer is a poignant
reminder that we have a powerful intercessor in heaven, namely the archangel who
waged a victorious battle against Satan in the Book of Revelation.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do thou, O prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the divine power of God,
cast into Hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world,
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
